Occupational Health and Safety

Every organisation regardless of the type of business has certain objectives as an organisation. Frequently these objectives are jeopardised by events that may occur in the operations that will influence reputation, sustainability, profits, and liability.

It is the Board of Directors responsibility to ensure that viable processes and systems are in place to protect the organisation from a disastrous incident disrupting critical operations.

An organization can identify what needs to be done before the incident occurs to protect its people, premises, technology, information, supply chain, stakeholders, and reputation. An incident could be because of a fire, flood, power failure telecoms outage, staff casualties, computer viruses and hardware or software failure.

The consequences of the above may involve loss of life, loss of assets, loss of income and market share, or the inability to deliver products and services on which the Organization’s strategy, reputation or even survival may depend.

Lately the focus shifted from pure safety related issues to that of occupational health matters, but it is such a vast and complex subject that it is very often ignored, overlooked, or placed on the back burner.

This five-day course has been developed with the emphasis on matters related to health in the mining sector and is based on sound risk management practice and principles.
